New Song Team Teachers

Suzy Nowicki loves being a New Song teacher! She teaches voice, piano and guitar. She is a classroom general music teacher and also teaches voice and piano lessons throughout the Chicagoland suburbs. She is dedicated to growing the musical skills of each student as a unique individual. Miss Suzy customizes lessons made to lead your student to perform their personal best. She was recently seen on PBS special "A Christmas Carol: The Concert" during 2013 and 2014 holiday seasons. She also performs regularly with the Ed Wagner Lustige Blaskapelle Polka Band as their lead singer.

 

 

Matthew Ramel teaches clarinet and piano. He has performed at IMEA collegiate demonstrations as well as Orchestra Hall. He was also part of a Clarinet quartet that played at the annual Clarinet Collaborations Chicago located at Northeastern Illinois University. Mr. Ramel has taught globally.

For two weeks he traveled to a variety of schools in Montego Bay Jamaica. He performs regularly with the Ed Wagner Lustige Blaskapelle Polka Band on clarinet.

 

 

Joleen Steel has a passion for unleashing the creative potential of young musicians. Joleen has been through the Royal Conservatory music program and has taught piano for over 15 years. She attended Spring Arbor University in Flint, MI and has a B.A. in elementary education. She utilizes this degree effectively in her piano lessons. Joleen’s greatest desire is to nurture in children and youth the lifelong joy of making music.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Leslie Weinzetel Originally from San Diego, CA, Leslie Royalty attended Wheaton College and then moved to Jacksonville, FL where she worked for a non-profit Christian organization for the past five years. She recently returned to the Wheaton area and has joined the New Song Music team as a piano teacher! Leslie began playing piano at the age of 5 and has participated in numerous music teams and choirs throughout her life. Her passion for music has led to her desire to help children discover and develop their own unique musical abilities. Through creative and experiential teaching methods, Leslie seeks to impart solid music theory and technique while ultimately fostering within each child the true joy of music!

 

Sarah Han Beginning piano at 5 years old and violin at 7, Sarah went on to pass the Trinity College London Grade 8 piano exam as well as the Associate Board of the Royal School of Music Grade 8 violin exam. She has enjoyed participating in a variety of ensembles including the Dubai Chamber Orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of the Middle East, and Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, placing second among her peers in the first annual Emirates International Peace Music Festival for Young Virtuosos. Since 2007, she has been playing violin in US and international church and conference worship teams, including studio-grade recording projects. Since she began teaching in 2007, she has been passionate about passing on a love of music to her students while pursuing excellence in music making by encouraging them in their growth as musicians.

 

 

Matthew Beck teaches woodwinds and piano. He has appeared around the world having performed in the United States, Germany, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Serbia. He is active in many styles and performs regularly around the Chicagoland area. Matt is a four time winner of the Elmhurst College Concerto Competition and has performed at the North American Saxophone Alliance Region 5 Conference. As the soprano saxophonist in The Elmhurst College Saxophone Quartet (ESQ), Matt led the group to win the Elmhurst College Chamber Music Competition, establishing ESQ as the premiere chamber ensemble at Elmhurst College. Matt looks forward to working with New Song students!

 

Billy Thoms received both his BA in Music and BA in Music Education from Elmhurst College. He has been teaching private lessons for the past 6 years. He has been a guest soloist with the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Elmhurst College Wind Ensemble. Mr. Thoms is currently looking for a teaching position at a school district.
